Prografica sponsors the 2008/2009 Italian Connection
At 11.00 am on May 23rd 2008 a landmark event will commence on Sydney's Norton Street in Leichhardt, finishing on Victoria’s Lygon St, Carlton May 25th.
The street will be decorated with a broad cross section of Italian motoring excellence, from the latest Ferrari through to classic Fiats, Ducatis, Alfa Romeos and more, combining to provide a visual spectacular, all lining up for the start of the inaugural Italian Connection Rally.
For the first time Australia's most famous little Italy's, Norton St, Leichhardt NSW and Lygon St, Carlton Victoria will be linked, with the course also weaving it's way through traditional Italian communities in Tumut & Myrtleford, via the Snowy Mountains, with associated celebrations in all locations. The IC will also provide a scenic Australian drive for it's contestants, while they enjoy some of the greatest examples of Italian style & workmanship along the way.
The IC is in the spirit the open road endurance race the Mille Miglia that was staged in Italy twenty-four times between 1927 & 1957, the MM made Gran Turismo sports cars like Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Maserati & also Porsche famous.
Limited to 60 vehicles - cars & bikes - the ranks are rumored to fill quickly, thanks largely to the undeniable passion and showmanship that is uniquely Italian, combined with the ultimate occasion to demonstrate their flair.
Conceived by Norton Plaza to raise money for charity the Italian Connection will finish with a Victory Dinner at a five star Melbourne venue where we will be auctioning some extraordinary Italian wonders to ensure the selected charities receive considerable dividends.
